Plans and billing
What counts as a character?
Every character of the article text we turn into audio, spaces included. An average article is about 5,000 characters, so 100k is roughly 20 articles.
What counts as a character and what the limit does
What happens when I edit an article?
By default the audio stays as it is when you update a published post, so fixing a typo costs nothing. You can switch the site to make new audio on every text change, or ask for it on a single update in the editor; new audio uses characters. Changing the post's voice always makes new audio. Tags, categories and the featured image never do.
What if I run out of characters?
Once the allowance is used up, new posts wait until the next period or a top-up. Audio that already exists keeps playing. Nothing retries on its own: a post that went out without audio gets it once the next period has started or you have added a top-up and you save it again. Top-ups: 20k characters for €6, 50k for €12 or 100k for €20, valid for 30 days from purchase, and what you have not used carries into the next period.

How does the free trial work?
7 days and 25k characters (about 5 articles), no card needed. If you don't buy a plan after the trial, the player disappears from your articles.
What happens when the trial or subscription ends
How many sites can one plan cover?
Start: 1. Portal: up to 3. Newsroom: up to 10. Enterprise: unlimited.
Is there a yearly price?
Yes. A year costs the same as ten months.
What your readers see
Why does the player say it's read by AI? Can I remove that?
Every player says, in the article's language, that the audio is generated by AI. It can't be switched off: readers should know what they are listening to.
How is the audio marked as AI-generated?
In three ways. The player shows a visible label in the article's language. Every audio file carries a signed manifest in the C2PA format (Content Credentials), the open industry standard for showing where content comes from, and ID3 tags that say the voice is AI-generated. Anyone can check a file with public tools.
Is the Readerr mark in the player removable?
No. The mark stays in every plan.
Will it slow down my pages?
No audio is downloaded until someone presses play, and the player keeps its space from the first paint, so the page doesn't jump.
Does the player use cookies or track readers?
The player sets no cookies and uses no localStorage or sessionStorage. After a reader presses play, it sends a few listening events for the article (that it started, and how far it got), with nothing that identifies the reader or their device.
Are there ads in the audio?
No. You pay for the audio, so your readers don't pay with their attention.
Voices and pronunciation
How do you handle numbers and abbreviations?
Before the voice reads anything, the text is prepared by rules, not guessed: the same number or abbreviation is read the same way in every article.
What about names?
Names get a pronunciation once and it is reused in every later article.
Which voices can I use?
Several female and male voices. You pick a default for the site and can change it for a single article.
Setup
Do I need WordPress?
No. There is a WordPress plugin, and an API for any other system.
How do I use the API?
Send each article to the API with your site's key, ask for its state until the audio is ready, then put the audio address into the Readerr player on your page. Five fields are required.
Can I restrict audio to subscribers?
Not today. The player is shown to everyone who can read the article.
Which parts of a post are read aloud?
Paragraphs, headings, lists and quotes. Custom HTML, embeds, buttons, galleries and blocks added by other plugins are skipped, so a promo box or a carousel stays silent and costs no characters. To skip any other block, add the class readerr-skip to it (in WordPress: Advanced → Additional CSS class(es)).
